OTERSU Project

OTERSU Project (Observatorio en Tecnologías de Tratamiento de Residuos Sólidos Urbanos con Máximo Aprovechamiento y Mínimo Vertido, or Observatory of Treatment Technologies for Municipal Solid Waste with Maximum Recovery and Minimum Landfill), led by the company Urbaser S.A, is one of the 16 projects approved in the first call of the CENIT Programme. The main objective of the project is to analyse and to study the set of possible technologies for the treatment of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) which allows minimizing the waste discharge while respecting the environmental legislation.

CENIT Programme

Initiated with the current call by CDTI (Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology), CENIT is a programme that promotes the participation of large research groups consisted of investigation companies and organisations, bringing companies closer to research world and bringing research world (universities, technological centres…) closer to market reality. In addition, another condition is the incorporation to Pymes project, so all the members and companies related to research are included.

Besides social aspects of research and company approach, the pursued objectives must have an important significance in the present and future society, directed to the solution of real and predictable problems in the near future. The solution proposal for the suggested problems must be a technological rupture where new techniques or new projects can be developed and can open a commercial sector outside our frontiers, to a greater or lesser extent.  In some cases it can be understood like a first step for the internationalisation of the group and the line of industrial research.
